Biography

Dr. Koliou is an Associate Professor and Zachry Career Development Professorship II holder in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department (CEE) at Texas A&M University. Her research focuses on developing resilient and sustainable structures and communities against extreme events, enabling urban areas to safely and functionally accommodate growing populations. She advances system- and community-level simulations to evaluate performance under hazards and guide disaster risk reduction. Dr. Koliou has secured over $17.5 million in external funding and currently leads a multi-institution NSF Coastlines and People Research Hub. She has received numerous honors, including the Research Impact Award by the Department of CEE, the Engineering Genesis Award for multidisciplinary research by the Texas A&M College of Engineering, and the NSF CAREER Award.
