Chania is where ICONHIC was born, and where its values of connection, collaboration, and resilience come to life.
From our earliest events, the local community has embraced ICONHIC with warmth, commitment, and pride. Whether it is the hotel teams who go the extra mile, the chefs sharing their traditions, or the residents who welcome us into their city, Chania reminds us that resilience starts with community engagement.
Timeless Natural Beauty
Set between the towering White Mountains — with over 30 peaks above 2,000m — and the shimmering blue of the Cretan Sea, Chania is a place of breathtaking contrasts.
Beyond its postcard-perfect charm, the Old Town offers a living mosaic of civilizations — Minoan, Venetian, Ottoman — layered through time into a place where history, culture, and daily life blend seamlessly.
Gastronomy worth traveling for
Dive into Chania’s flavors — wild herbs, fresh seafood, olive oil, and recipes passed down through generations.
Dine by the sea at Thalassino Ageri in the hidden quarter of Tambakaria, or enjoy local meze at Ta Chalkina, a favorite in the Old Harbor.
Don’t leave without trying psilelies olives, dakos, apaki, Cretan wines, and a glass of tsikoudia — always served with a story.
As the site of ancient Kydonia, one of the most important cities of the Minoan civilization, Chania played a central role in early Mediterranean trade and seafaring innovation. Over the centuries, it endured disruption — from powerful shaking to tsunami — and was ultimately captured and destroyed by the Romans in 69 BCE.
But the city rebuilt. And today, it thrives — a place that understands disruption, and truly embodies resilience.
A LEGACY OF RESILIENCE
The Minoa Palace Resort & Spa
Nestled on the coast of Platanias, just a short drive from Chania, our venue offers the perfect blend of comfort, sophistication, and natural beauty. Surrounded by lush gardens and overlooking the Cretan Sea, this 5-star beachfront resort creates a serene atmosphere for reflection, conversation, and connection — day and night.
Whether you prefer an early-morning jog along the beach before the sessions begin, or winding down with a sunset drink by the pool, continuing the conversation long after the panels end, the setting makes every moment feel effortless.
World-class Conference Experience
The main plenary hall accommodates over 1,500 delegates in a spacious, column-free layout with flexible partitioning and high ceilings. Additional halls and breakout rooms offer comfort, natural lighting, and seamless technical support.
Seaside
Atmosphere
Our breaks feel just as memorable as our sessions. At ICONHIC, lunches are shared by the pool, under the palms, with views of the sea and the buzz of ideas still in the air. At past ICONHIC events, some of the most meaningful conversations started right here, with a refreshing cocktail on the beach, or watching the sun dip behind the horizon.
Whether a quiet moment with a view or a table full of voices and local flavors, this is where ideas grow and connections deepen.
In the end, it’s all about the People
After hosting two previous ICONHIC editions, the Minoa Palace team feels like part of our own. Their professionalism, hospitality, and attention to detail create an atmosphere that is both effortlessly relaxed and flawlessly run. From logistics to warm welcomes, they go above and beyond — ensuring every participant feels supported, valued, and at home
