Biography
Fani Gelagoti is the co-founder and Director of Research and Development of Grid Engineers, a consulting group providing resilient-design solutions for infrastructure. She is leading research on catastrophe risk and modeling, analysis of sustainable geosystems and offshore geotechnics. Prior to Grid Engineers, Fani was sharing her time between the USA (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) and Greece (University of Patras) after receiving a highly-competitive 3-year postdoctoral grant to conduct independent research on the seismic vulnerability of structures founded on irregular topographies. Fani holds MSc (2006) from Carnegie Mellon University (USA) and PhD (2010) in Earthquake Geotechnical Engineering from National Technical University of Athens (Greece). During the past decade, she led over 25 consulting projects in international environments while she has been the primary investigator in 10 research projects. Fani has co-authored 21 papers in International Refereed Journals and 47 papers in Conference Proceedings.
