Rodrigo Davila is a Senior Risk Engineer in the Risk Engineering Services Mining Team of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. He has been engaged for the last five years in the assessment of insurance related risks and exposures for his company’s book of mining clients in their different operational aspects; including ore extraction, beneficiation, and tailings deposition, among others. He was recently involved in the development and testing of a proprietary tool for the assessment of tailing dams associated risks from an insurance point of view. He has around 20 years’ experience in the large corporate property insurance sector, working for different insurance companies in Latin America and Switzerland. He has held various roles over the years in risk engineering, underwriting and claims management for large clients; within the areas of mining, oil and gas and heavy industries.
