Raul Fuentes is a Professor in Infrastructure Engineering at the University of Leeds. He is also currently the Pro-Dean (International) for the Faculty of Engineering, responsible for the internationalisation activities of the Faculty and Europe at University level. His research interests are: Seismic behaviour of tunnels, Large deformation modelling in geotechnical engineering and robotics applied to geotechnical engineering. In tunnels, he was Guest Editor of the Special Issue on Seismic performance of tunnels: from experiments to analysis in the Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology journal.

He is currently a recipient of an EPSRC (UK funding body) Fellowship and past recipient of the Royal Academy of Engineering / Leverhulme Senior Research Fellowship. In total he has led or contributed to R&D projects with a value of over £20M.
